Don joins the UIP team as the CFO. Don has over 30 years management experience with 10 years serving in a CFO capacity related to Real Estate. He has demonstrated verifiable success crafting and delivering outstanding investment strategies and oversight at an executive level. Don has captured the attention of private equity investors who demand executive public company experience working with both institutional and retail investors. He has also been a frequent guest lecturer in the university setting as an expert real estate investor, public company executive and fund raising in the capital markets. Don has experience in accounting, finance, capital markets, acquisition, assets management, business operations and creating policies specific to REIT’s. During his career span, Don has established his reputation for building relationships within the real estate community that includes investors and bankers having closed syndicated credit deals with CAPITALONE, KEY Bank, BMO, Truist, Huntington Bank and CCRE to name a few. Don began his Real Estate Career in Rockville MD, at Washington Real Estate Investment Trust now Elme Communities where he managed the property accounting department consisting of over $1.1B AUM across 4.3M sq ft in Multifamily, Office, Medical Office, Retail and Industrial asset classes. That lead to him becoming the CFO of Quantum Real Estate Management, an established senior and affordable housing property management company serving the DMV area. Prior to UIP he was a founding member of Global Medical REIT taking the company public raising $150M on the NYSE as its CFO. He worked with Wunderlich Securities Inc. and Oppenheimer & Co. who functioned as co-book-running managers for the offering, and BB&T Capital Markets, Compass Point Research & Trading and D.A. Davidson & Co. served as co-lead managers and subsequently grew the company to $334M market cap managing over 1.7M sq. ft.
He was responsible for public company financial preparation, SEC reporting, analyst calls, guidance, acquisition oversight, REIT compliance and capital raise. He holds a BS in Finance and an MBA with certifications in business finance and derivative valuation.
