Peter J. Bonnell joined Urban Investment Partners and Drummond Development in January of 2004 after a brief stint in Northern Virginia’s technology sector. Mr. Bonnell graduated from Bucknell University in 2002 with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Mr. Bonnell is responsible for deal sourcing, structuring, underwriting, entitlements, condominium documents, reporting and asset management, acquisitions and dispositions, refinances, leases, loan and partnership documents, negotiations with tenant and community groups, lobbying and political activities, and investor relations.
Over his years with UIP, Mr. Bonnell has been responsible for assisting dozens of tenant groups of all sizes in settling complex disputes with ownership and management and in exercising their DC TOPA rights. Mr. Bonnell has created home ownership opportunities through tenant sponsored condominiums where tenants purchased their renovated apartments at significant discounts and has helped tenant associations effect multimillion dollar improvement programs to their buildings while protecting the rents of all existing tenants. Mr. Bonnell has worked with tenant groups in buildings ranging from 10 apartments to buildings with over 650 apartments.
Mr. Bonnell is a Board Member with the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington and has served on the Executive Committee of the Washington Chapter of the Urban Land Institute. Mr. Bonnell is a resident of Ward One in the District of Columbia.
